Radiology

Radiology, also called diagnostic imaging, is a medical specialty that uses medical imaging techniques to diagnose diseases. Although radiology acts as a kind of digital eye for observing organs in diagnosis, in recent years it has also come to the forefront in treatment with interventional radiology practices.

Daviva Health Group Radiology Department provides treatment solutions by working in coordination with all specialties through its expert physician staff.

What Is Radiology?

Radiology is a branch of medical science that uses radiation, magnetic energy, or ultrasound to image the human anatomy. The birth of radiology began with the German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen’s discovery of the X-ray imaging method. In the following years, new and advanced methods using sound waves and magnetic energy were added to imaging methods that used X-rays. Today, radiology has become part of treatment as well as the diagnosis of diseases through interventional methods.

Diagnostic Radiology Imaging Techniques

X-Ray

It is a fast and painless imaging method that uses X-rays to image the inside of the body. X-ray is commonly used to diagnose conditions such as fractures and dislocations in bones, to detect tooth decay, or in cases such as chest infections. Although the X-ray imaging method carries small risks because it uses X-rays during imaging, it is known as a safe method.

Computed Tomography (CT)

The CT imaging method uses X-rays like X-ray. However, it is a much more advanced technology than X-ray. It produces multiple detailed cross-sectional slices of tissues, organs, bones, and blood vessels. It creates 3D images to quickly detect internal diseases, injuries, or tumors.

Daviva Health Group provides a unique level of detail and speed in diagnostic imaging with 128-slice Computed Tomography (CT).

Magnetic Resonance (MR)

Unlike X-ray and Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging uses magnetic waves instead of X-rays. Because it does not involve radiation, it is considered safer than other imaging methods. It is particularly effective in distinguishing soft tissues, especially for the brain, spinal cord, muscles, and ligaments, in diagnosing diseases, and in monitoring treatment.

Daviva Health Group provides its patients with high-resolution imaging services using 1.5 Tesla MR technology.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of organs, tissues, and blood flow inside the body. For this reason, it is classified as a safe imaging method. Therefore, ultrasound is also the most preferred method in pregnancy follow-up. In addition to pregnancy follow-up, it is preferred for examining soft tissues and guiding procedures such as biopsies.

Color Doppler Ultrasound

It is an advanced form of ultrasound technology. In Color Doppler, different colors are used to indicate the direction of blood flow. This makes Doppler easier to interpret. It can be safely used in situations such as neck, arm, and leg vessels, and pregnancy follow-up.

Mammography

It is one of the standard imaging methods for breast health and especially for breast cancer screening. It uses X-rays to create images of breast tissue. It takes multiple 2D digital images of the breast, and computer software combines these 2D images to create a 3D image.

Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy is an imaging method that allows real-time observation of the movements of organs or structures inside the body. Simply put, fluoroscopy is like a "live X-ray." Fluoroscopy is vital for imaging movements such as swallowing or blood flow, and for guiding procedures such as catheter placement and orthopedic and urological surgeries.

Densitometry

Commonly known as a bone density test. It scans areas such as the hip, spine, or wrist to determine low bone mass, detect osteoporosis, and estimate fracture risk; this procedure generally exposes patients to minimal radiation.

QCT Bone Density Measurement

It is a 3D imaging technique used to measure bone mineral density and assess fracture risk. While 2D images and assessments of the bone are obtained in the densitometry method, 3D evaluation is possible in QCT Bone Density Measurement imaging.

Digital Panoramic X-Ray

It is a fast, low-radiation dental imaging technique used in oral and dental health conditions that captures all teeth, the upper and lower jaw, and surrounding tissues in a single 2D image. This image, taken from outside the mouth, helps dentists diagnose problems such as impacted teeth, tumors, and bone issues.
